Description

The Faculty Senate of the University of West Georgia, constituted within Academic Affairs, is the primary means through which faculty participate in the shared governance process at the University. This body typically meets once per month to vote on curriculum changes, hear committee reports, and discuss issues that affect faculty. Highlights of this meeting include: GPAs and student athletes; update on core curriculum; approval of proposal to urge modification of the gas powered flame lamp known as the Flame of Knowledge (associated with the UWG brand) at the end of the main campus drive to facilitate cost savings and ecological responsibility; probationary period for new faculty hires; tenure evaluation and timelines; QEP impact report (Quality Enhancement Plan). Plan was named "Improving Student Writing in the Core."
