The Faculty Senate of the University of West Georgia, constituted within Academic Affairs, is the primary means through which faculty participate in the shared governance process at the University. This body typically meets once per month to vote on curriculum changes, hear committee reports, and discuss issues that affect faculty. Highlights of this meeting include: Covid 19 protocols; Richards Hall (new Business building in progress); UWG budget; UWG Strategic Plan; work/life balance; faculty representation on administrator search committees; academic freedom and listings of courses addressing white privilege; purchase request approvals and academic freedom; BOR (Board of Regents) approval process for new program proposals; promotion and tenure extensions related to Covid; AAUP representation on Faculty Council (vetoed by president); University policies posted for public comment; accreditation reaffirmation (upcoming 2023/24); General Education overhaul; Advanced Placement Policy; appeals of Post Tenure Review decisions policy; and shared governance.
