The Faculty Senate of the University of West Georgia, constituted within Academic Affairs, is the primary means through which faculty participate in the shared governance process at the University. This body typically meets once per month to vote on curriculum changes, hear committee reports, and discuss issues that affect faculty. Highlights of this meeting include: the establishment of the "Stone Center for Family Business, Entrepreneurship and Innovation"; Art Incend (fired artwork) project of the Art Department; Douglasville USG (University System of Georgia) campus presence; mental health services for students; upcoming accreditation visit (2024); working group for new Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP); eSports program; changes to the promotion and tenure review process; eCore (a USG sponsored program with offices on UWG's campus to allow Georgians to complete some of their general education requirements online) and its relationship to UWG's general education curriculum; closure of the Center for Adult Learners and Veterans; staffing of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP); faculty workload; faculty compensation; faculty morale; decreasing enrollment; and faculty engagement survey.
