Abstract

Description

The Faculty Senate of the University of West Georgia, constituted within Academic Affairs, is the primary means through which faculty participate in the shared governance process at the University. This body typically meets once per month to vote on curriculum changes, hear committee reports, and discuss issues that affect faculty. Highlights of this meeting include: changes to the Undergraduate Catalog regarding transfer students and the academic renewal policy; Faculty Handbook revisions to minimum criteria for promotion; Academic Affairs Policies Index revisions for promotion criteria; passage of a resolution regarding diversifying the faculty; AAUP concerns about shared governance with respect to budget cuts and transparency of faculty positions and nonrenewal letters.
