Description

The Faculty Senate of the University of West Georgia, constituted within Academic Affairs, is the primary means through which faculty participate in the shared governance process at the University. This body typically meets once per month to vote on curriculum changes, hear committee reports, and discuss issues that affect faculty. Highlights of this meeting include: launching of the UWG Momentum Center (to assist with retention); process for BOR (Board of Regents) to approve curriculum proposals passed by UWG Senate; increased use of metrics to measure academic programs; course modality/delivery method (online, hybrid, face to face); Academic Affairs reorganization of colleges; evaluation of administrators; vaccinations; Covid 19; Senate membership and unit representation on Senate (number of Senators apportioned per college/school and library); faculty searches (process, recruitment and onboarding via Human Resources); modification of student course evaluations (SEI); presidential responses to Senate meeting minutes; and presidential vetoes of Senate items.
