Abstract

Description

The Faculty Senate of the University of West Georgia, constituted within Academic Affairs, is the primary means through which faculty participate in the shared governance process at the University. The Faculty Senate began issuing Resolutions on a selective basis in 2008 to emphasize collective opinion of the faculty within, and in addition to, the official minutes of the organization. This resolution, titled "A Resolution for Athletics Inclusion," was recommended by the Intercollegiate Athletics and University Advancement Committee. It recommends that coaches of UWG athletic teams be invited to the fall General Faculty Meeting, as they have roles, like faculty, as teachers and mentors to student athletes. The Faculty Senate adopted this resolution on April 17, 2020.
