Abstract

Description

The Faculty Senate of the University of West Georgia, constituted within Academic Affairs, is the primary means through which faculty participate in the shared governance process at the University. The Faculty Senate began issuing Resolutions on a selective basis in 2008 to emphasize collective opinion of the faculty within, and in addition to, the official minutes of the organization. This resolution, titled "A Resolution on Academic Advising Restructuring," argues that: 1) faculty need to be involved in decision making related to the structure of academic advising of students; 2) advising need not be conducted the same way for every program; 3) changes should be vetted in collaboration with others, specifically the Academic Policies Committee; and 4) the Office of Academic Affairs should rescind its unilateral changes. The Faculty Senate adopted this resolution on September 10, 2021. The second and third pages of this document contain "Petition to the USG for a Change in COVID Policy," which recommends two choices, and "Resolution on Campus COVID Related Protocols at UWG," which makes ten recommendations. No date of Faculty Senate or presidential approval is appended to the Petition or this COVID Resolution.
