The Via Krupp, which is a steep footpath from the Gardens of Augustus (Giardini di Augusto) down to the Bay of Marina Piccola, which is on Capri's southern coast. The gardens were established by the German industrialist Friedrich Alfred Krupp in the early twentieth century when he built his mansion on Capri, and were known until 1918 as Krupp Gardens. The botanical gardens are designed in terraces overlooking the sea. The footpath was closed to tourists when the photograph was taken.
