Interior of the Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra) sea cave on the northwest coast of Capri in the municipality of Anacapri, Italy. Small boats are necessary, with the passengers laying down in the boats while entering, as the mouth of the cave is only one meter high by two meters wide. The natural sea cave is 60 meters long and 25 meters wide. The Blue Grotto is the most famous sight on Capri Island. It is named for the azure blue light inside the cavern, where the water is a crystalline blue with silver reflections. The walls of the sea cave are limestone.
