Description
The sealed double gate is in the eastern wall of the Old City walls. It is on the western slope of the Kidron Valley near olive trees. Presently there is an Islamic cemetery at the foot of the Gate. The date of the present gate is uncertain. Behind the gate is the northern section of the Temple Mount. Christian tradition places Jesus entering the city through this gate.
