Abstract
Description
Two different border mosaic decorations of the Mausoleo di Galla Placidia (Galla Placidia Mausoleum; Mausoleum of Galla Placidia) in Ravenna, Italy. These borders appear below the moonflower mosaics on the ceilings of the four barrel vaults. According to https://medievalmosaics.com/mosaics/39, a "series of different borders are used on the arches supporting the central tower, including a sort of fish scale pattern (north and south), a three-dimensional meander design (east) and a garland of fruits and plants (west)."
