A sign within the entrance of the audience hall reads, in part: "Sculptures and Architectural Elements: Hisham's Palace was richly adorned with sculpted human and animal figures and floral and geometric designs made of carved plaster (stucco) and stone. Carved plaster was used extensively to decorate wall surfaces, arches, ceilings, capitals, cornices, niches, windows, and balustrades. The finest murals and stucco decorations were found in the diwan, the Audience Hall, and the entrance passages of the palace. Most of the sculptures are exhibited at the Palestine Archeological Museum (Rockefeller) in Jerusalem...
