Abstract

Description

A partial view of the interior of the Church of St. Paul at the Three Fountains (Rome, Italy). The upper left has a stained glass window of St. Paul and below is the first of three shrines. Each shrine indicates where Saint Paul's head touched the ground as it bounced downhill and a spring allegedly bubbled up. Each shrine is decorated with a bronze depiction of St. Paul's head. In the lower left, behind a black iron grate, is a column that marks the exact spot where the apostle Paul was beheaded.
