Altar in the lowest level of the Basilica of the Annunciation. The altar reads,in Latin, "VERBUM CARO HIC FACTUM EST." It is often translated "Here the word became flesh." The Basilica is situated on the traditional site described in Luke 1:26-38 when the angel Gabriel appeared to Virgin Mary and announced that she would bear a son.
