Description

Portion of mosaic art in the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo (Basilica di Sant'Apollinare Nuovo) in Ravenna, Italy. The photograph shows a depiction of three ships, one in full sail, in the port city of Classe, just south of Ravenna. This is the left portion of that mosaic on the north side of the nave, in the lowest tier of mosaics; a gold brick wall is to its right.
