A sign in Manger Square that was provided by the Palestinian National Authority lists "special instructions" for visits. Visitors are to show respect for the holy site, wear appropriate attire, enter correctly, keep silent, and maintain order when inside. Weapons inside were prohibited, as were shooting a TV film (except with permission from officials), chewing gum, eating, and smoking.
