Description
A photograph taken from a bus after leaving the Basilica of Saint Cecilia in Trastevere. On the left is the 3-bayed Arch of Constantine, a triumphal arch in Rome, Italy. It was commissioned by the Roman Senate to commemorate the Emperor Constantine's victory over Maxentius at the Battle of Milvian Bridge (312 CE). It is the largest triumphal arch in the city. To its right is a good view of the Colosseum, an elliptical amphitheatre in the city's center, and the largest amphitheatre ever built. Both structures are just east of the Roman Forum, a rectangular plaza surrounded by ruins of early important government buildings.
