Description
In the middle of the photograph are scenes from the life of Christ depicted in the uppermost tier of mosaic decorations in the nave of the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo (Basilica di Sant'Apollinare Nuovo) in Ravenna, Italy. On the left, Lazarus is shown rising from his tomb. A martyr's crown appears in the central panel. The right scene is that of meeting the Samaritan woman. A large figure of a saint or prophet is portrayed in the frieze below, between two windows. A portion of the coffered ceiling is visible in the top of the photograph.
