Description
Up a steep staircase near the chapel of Adam is the chapel dedicated to the traditional site of Golgotha, the place where Jesus was crucified. This photo shows the Roman Catholic side with an altar at the traditional place where Jesus was nailed to the cross. For those traveling the Via Dolorosa, it is the 11th Station. The statue of the Vring Mary in the lit arch before which the women are kneeling is hte 13th Station of teh Via Dolorosa. It represents Jesus' being taken down from the cross. The mosaics date to the 1930s.
