Venice (in Italian: Venezia) is a city in northeastern Italy that is built on a group of 126 islands separated by open water and canals, linked through 472 bridges. The historical island city is home to only 51K people, but a very popular tourist destination with about 60K tourists per day. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is renowned for its beauty, architecture, and artwork. The San Polo district is in the heart of the main island of Venice, near the Rialto Bridge and the Rialto Market. It is the smallest district and one of the oldest in the city. The Rialto Bridge is the oldest of four bridges that span the Grand Canal, connecting San Marco and San Polo. In one of the photos by the Grand Canal, a sign indicates that one can catch a water ferry to Santa Sofia from there. The photo of a bridge appears to be the Rialto Bridge, as seen from an entry point.
