Ravenna: Basilica of Saint Apollinare in Classe

The Basilica of St. Apollinare in Classe (or Basilica of Sant'Apollinare in Classe, or Saint Apollinaris in Classe), which is located in Ravenna, Italy. The basilica is an important monument of Byzantine art and is well known for its mosaic decorations, as well as housing the relics of Saint Apollinaris. It is located near the remains of an Augustinian era harbor (Classe). It was dedicated in the 6th century. Saint Apollinaris was the first bishop of Ravenna who was likely active in Ravenna during the second century.
