Jerusalem: Garden Tomb

Permanent URI for this collection

Located outside of the Old City near the Damascus Gate, this site is a popular pilgrimage destination for Christians. Set in a lovely garden there is an ancient hand cut tomb. It is also adjacent to a rocky outcrop known as Skull Hill. Presently the site is owned by the Garden Tomb Association, a charitable trust associated with the Evangelical Alliance of Israel. In contrast with the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, this site provides a more naturalistic view of what the burial place of Jesus might have looked like.
