Presidential Responses to Faculty Senate Actions
Permanent URI for this collection
Per Board of Regents' policy, within the University System of Georgia a President may accept or veto any act of any council or committee of his or her institution. Presidents must put their decisions, including reasons in the event of a veto, in writing and transmit them to the proper officer. Copies of any veto statements are also submitted to the Chancellor. At the University of West Georgia, the primary body of the faculty is the Faculty Senate, to which Senators are elected by their respective schools or departments. UWG Presidents ratify or veto the decisions of the Faculty Senate after the minutes of the meeting are approved, which is typically at the Senate’s subsequent meeting or, in more recent years, when electronic approval is completed.
